Your questions answered
Common questions
Is this class self-paced?
It is a structured, guided, assisted immersion program. You will have some assignments/resources to work with on your own time and at your own pace but the program’s core consists of 3-4 live (face-to-face via Zoom video calls), 1 hr classes per week. The sessions vary between lessons and conversation practice sessions with our native speakers plus coaching with your bilingual Spanish coach.
What sort of time commitment should I expect?
You can expect to have 3 or 4 weekly 1-hour live Zoom classes, per your selection. These sessions will be scheduled around your availability (although we do ask for a general time frame that works best for you when you join) and you can also expect to spend about 30-40 minutes a day 3 times a week, working through your self-study resources.
Is this program for everyone?
No, this course is specifically designed to prepare anyone who is traveling to or moving to Latin
America (or Spanish-speaking community in general), to be able to navigate day-to-day situations and converse with the locals, with ease & confidence.
This is a beginner program, which is for you if you’re just starting out and want to begin on the right foot for conversational Spanish OR if you already know some vocabulary, etc., but would like to take your conversational Spanish to the next level and begin to use it in daily conversation, beyond just the basic greetings.
What sets this program apart from others?
This program was created specifically for people who want to learn Spanish for verbal communication purposes primarily. This is a “hands-on” program and 70-80% of your time will be spent learning through doing. We use a holistic approach very similar to the way babies learn their native language (based on the natural learning process of association) but altered to fit an adult’s brain and lifestyle. Apart from helping you drastically improve your conversational Spanish & fluency within the 12 weeks, our mission is to help you understand the brain’s natural learning processes so you can
create a brain-friendly learning environment that facilitates the process and accelerates your results.
What if I want a refund?
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you sign up for the program and for whatever reason decide it’s not for you, we ask that you submit a written request to cancel your participation in the program and if received before the initial 14 days conclude, we will refund your money (apart from any services already provided within the given time).
What do I need to join/attend the lessons?
All you need is a stable internet connection, a quiet environment, and a free Zoom account registered and installed on your device.(we can help you set up a Zoom account if needed)
I am enrolled. Now what?
Within the next 24 hours, you will receive an email requesting you to book a quick 15-minute level assessment session via Zoom. Once this is complete, we will establish a start date that works for you, and work out a schedule for our initial sessions!
Where are the native speakers from?
They are from different countries throughout Latin America – Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, etc.
You start with one native speaker for your conversation sessions and at week 5 we will add in another speaker, so you can get accustomed to the variations in speech (You’ll now speak with 2 native speakers each week instead of just 1). We always match you up with speakers from the region you are most interested in, whenever possible.
How does scheduling work?
Once you sign up we will ask you for your general availability (if you prefer mornings, evenings, etc.) and then each week we will ask when you’re available within those times so we can work around your other commitments when creating the schedules.
What if I have to travel (or take time off for another reason) during the 12 weeks?
For this 1-on-1 option, we can pause the program for you at any time, if you will not be available. When you’re ready, you can pick up where you left off. However, we recommend not taking off more than a week or two at a time, to avoid interrupting the momentum and consistency. Consistency and repetition are essential for your progress!
